Résumé : Ce mémoire analyse la représentation du feu au sein de la filmographie de Terrence Malick, de Badlands jusqu’à Tree of Life. Nous commençons par exposer la part symbolique du feu au travers des grandes analyses des sciences humaines et de la représentation de celui-ci dans l’histoire des mythes et de l’art occidental. Nous exposons ensuite le lien entre le feu et le voyageur, figure archétypale du héros chez Malick. Nous achevons notre étude par une analyse de la représentation du soleil et de la lumière et de leur lien au divin ?

Abstract: This memoir analyses the representation of fire in the filmography of Terrence Malick, from Badlands to the Tree of Life. We begin by exposing the symbolic part of fire through the analysis of the human sciences and the representation of it in the history of Myths and Western art. We then expose the link between fire and the traveler, the archetypal figure of Malick’s character. We conclude our study with an analysis of the representation of the sun and light and their connection to the divine.
