Résumé : La diffusion de playback en tournage cinéma, c’est ce que nous traitons dans ce mémoire. Le playback est l’élément sonore avec lequel les personnages entrent en interaction. Il peut donc s’agir de musique, d’une voix au téléphone, ou issue d’un poste de radio ou d’une télévision, et qui entraîne une réaction spécifique d’un comédien. Nous présentons diverses situations de ce type, puis nous posons les problématiques techniques que peut rencontrer au fil de la chaîne de production, la diffusion d’un playback. Elle nécessite une anticipation en amont du tournage, et sur le plateau, elle change le rôle du chef opérateur du son, chargé de mettre à disposition du réalisateur et des comédiens les moyens souhaités. Nous élaborons et testons ensuite, trois méthodes expérimentales de diffusion de playback, qui permettraient la conservation du son direct. Pour finir, nous participons à l’élaboration du film Le Silence après Bach, partie pratique de mémoire de Julien Soudet, étudiant de la section cinéma. Nous travaillons sur la production des musiques, de leur enregistrement à leur diffusion au tournage. Nous effectuons la prise de son direct du film, ainsi que toute la post-production sonore.

Abstract: In this research project, we will look at playback during a film shoot. Playback is the sound element with which characters interact. We will consider music, voices on the phone, radio or television, any sound that causes or requires a reaction on the part of the actor. We will present various situations of this nature, then examine the technical questions raised throughout the film production chain, due to the use of playback. These need to be anticipated before shooting, and may change the role on set of the sound engineer, who has to provide solutions to the problems encountered by the director and the actors. We will conceive and test three experimental methods to play back music, the aim of which is to allow the preservation of the direct sound of the actor’s voice (recorded with a sound boom). To conclude, we will participate in the film Le Silence après Bach (Silence After Bach), directed by Julien Soudet, a student in the Cinematography department. We will work on the music production, from its recording to playback on set. We will do the direct recording as well as the sound editing and mixing of the film.
