Utopia gallery. Le corps utopique dans l’installation artistique

Résumé : Utopia Gallery est un projet personnel d’installation artistique où le visiteur est amené à sentir et percevoir son corps dans l’espace par différents moyens. Des cadres vides sont accrochés. Des caméras fixées aux murs observent le public. Des flashs photographiques se déclenchent aléatoirement. Grâce à de la réalité augmentée, le visiteur peut se voir dans les cadres et interagir avec son propre corps et celui des autres. Ce mémoire interroge le trajet utopique du corps visiteur dans cette installation : de sa conscience à appartenir à l’espace empirique, à la virtualisation de son corps par le miroir vidéo et la réalité augmentée. La clé de l’utopisation du corps procéderait-elle de la relation dialogique, de l’interaction de complétion qui s’opère entre corps organique et corps virtuel ? L’étude se déploie en trois parties, comme un trajet depuis le corps empirique et organique vers le corps utopique, virtualisé.

Abstract: Utopia Gallery has been conceived as an art installation, where the visitor can
perceive their own body in a given space through different means. Empty frames hang on the walls. Cameras attached to the walls observe the audience. Photographic flashes are triggered at random. Thanks to augmented reality, the visitors can see themselves in the frames and interact with their own and other’s bodies. This research questions the utopian travel of the visitor’s body in the installation: from an awareness of belonging to the empiric space, to the virtualisation of the body through the video mirror and augmented reality. Does the key to a utopian vision of the body lie in the dialogical relation, the interactions of completion which operate between the organic and virtual body? This research is divided into three parts, like a journey from the empiric and organic body to the utopian and virtualised body.
